Abstract

The genus Pseudopedinella was found in the provinces of Madrid, Guadalajara and Cuenca, during the years 1973, 1974 and 1980. This genus belongs to the family Pedinellaceae, order Chrornulinales, class Chrysophyceae. It was never seen alive, always fixed with lugol, nor it was possible to culture, that is the reason why it is problematic to assign it to one of the four described freshwater species. According to its size it may be P. erkensis SKUJA, P. elastica SKUJA or P. ambigua BOURRELLY. It was always found in cold waters, nearly saturated of oxygen, and generally with a little contamination.
