Abstract

In recent explorations carried out in the uranium mines of Urgeirica, nine species of fungi that destroy mining timber were found. Of these, Flaviporus brownei ( Pers.) Donk, Scytinostroma galactinum (Fr.) Donk and Trechispora alnicola (Bourd. & Galz.) Liberta, seem to be new records for the portuguese catalogue. Some additional information on the habitat, ecology and distribution of the species is discussed, as well as considerations on fungi found in similar habitats in this country.
