Abstract

Enterocola pterophorus and E. mammiferus are recorder for the first time from the Iberian Peninsula. Moreover E. mammiferus is collected for the first time after its original description. The host-forms of Enterocola pterophorus and Enterocola mammiferus Chatton & Harant, 1922 associated with the colonial ascidians Cystodytes dellechiajei (Della Valle, 1877) and Aplidium pallidum (Verril, 1871) respectively, from the Strait of Gibraltar (Iberian Peninsula) are described, discussed and compared with the remainer known host-forms. New records of Enterocola sydnii from this area are done. Furthermore, the validity of the taxonomic characters in the genus is discussed, and a comparative table including the five species present in the Strait of Gibraltar is provided.
