Abstract

Agroecology in Bolivia founds its origin on the ancestral practices in the high and lowland indigenous farming areas, which applied the principles of ecological interactions in harmony with the communal socio-cultural dynamics. The process of institutionalization of agroecology started at the early 80s, first with technical experimentation activities, followed by epistemological and academic discussions, and then by the establishment of organic producers associations and civil society organizations dedicated to agroecology. From 2006 a new stage of the agroecological process in Bolivia began with its inclusion in the national regulation and policy.
