Abstract

In this work the author argues for the pertinence of a detailed analysis of the poetry in 15th century Castilian poetry collections as an innovative methodological path towards an improved understanding of the ruling courts of this period, in the context of the principal political events which they witnessed. In so doing, the author presents several examples of this interaction between lyric and historical-political activity, which is present above all in the Cancionero de Baena and in the Cancionero general by Hernando del Castillo, during a period that last from the reign of Henry II until the consolidation of the Catholic Monarchs.
