Best practice code

Educatio Siglo XXI has a best practice code for the parties involved in its administration and publication, such as editorial teams and authors and referees of works. The journal’s best practice code follows the criteria laid down in the guide created by the CSIC (Higher Scientific Research Centre), an agency of the Spanish government. Further information is available from the following link: http://revistas.csic.es/public/guia_buenas_practicas_CSIC.pdf

The editorial board is responsible for the content published and must ensure its quality. It must be impartial, respecting the intellectual independence of the authors, who will have the right of reply to any negative review. It will maintain confidentiality in the handling of texts and their content, and will ensure that there is a fair and impartial process for reviewing works. The Management of the journal is responsible for ensuring application of the rules governing the Editorial Panel.

Authors must adhere to the publication criteria and instructions established by the journal. The texts submitted must be the result of original and unpublished research and the authors must ensure that the data and results presented are original work and have not been manipulated. In the case of multiple authors, the person responsible for liaising with the journal about the article must ensure that anyone who makes a significant contribution to the conception, planning, design, execution, data collection, interpretation and discussion of the results of the work is recognised. Any author who discovers a serious error in his or her work must notify the journal as soon as possible, so that the article can be modified, withdrawn or retracted or a correction or errata can be published.

Finally, any referees of articles must take into account that they must treat the work as a confidential document until it is published, both during and after the review process. The quality of the work as a whole should be judged objectively. In addition, referees must act quickly and submit their reports in the agreed time period. Therefore, they must notify the Management of any possible delays.
