Determinación espectrofotométrica de cobalto como TTHA-Co (III)

Resumen

The action of hydrogen peroxide on the Co (II) in the presence of Triethylenetetraminehexaacetic acid (TTHA) leads to the formation of a 2:1 Co (III): TTHA complex. Variables that influences the redox process, pH, temperature, heating time and concentration of reactants are studied. The TTHA-Co (III) complex shows absorption at 544 nm suitable for the spectrophotometric determination of cobalt (29-235 p. p. m.) (ε = 247 l mol-1 cm-1) with good analytical results. The influence of foreign ions is studied. The new method is applied to the determination of cobalt in 310/1 Nimonic 90 alloy (17 % Co).
